Grace crochet skirt

I’ve always admired photos of beatiful long boho-style crochet skirts, and a while ago I found a perfect pattern – Grace skirt by Concept Creative.

So when I was orderoing summer yarns from my favourite on-line shop by Sikulka Hanka, I got some beatiful beige bamboo yarn with this project in mind.

I only got to it in the beggining of August – so finishing it in September isn’t too bad.

I find the pattern price to be rather hight – though I admire the amount of work that must have gone into writing the pattern and grading it into various sizes. Beware that it isn’t written up in the traditional US crochet pattern-writing style, so you may need to put in some extra effort into decoding it. In the end, with the help of the charts I didn’t have any major issues. There are also no mistakes in the pattern, which is great. So all in all, I would say it was all worth it, and the end result is as gorgeous I hoped it would be.

So, I used up 530 gr of Alize Bamboo Fine yarn (about 2550 yards), and 2.5 mm hook. My motifs were a bit larger then the gauge in the pattern, so I made size XS/S instead of M, and ut fits me perfectly well. Here’s a picture of the skirt before blocking – you can see that it grew quite a bit after, so I’m glad I didn’t make longer.

For the elastic waist band, I used a different method from what’s described in the patten. I did a round of single crochet, and then another one, working just in the back loop. Then, I worked up a band in regular single crochet to be high enough for the width of my elastic band. Then I started working in the front loops of the initial sc round, and up again for the same number of rounds. Then I measured the elastic band, joind in in the loop, placed between the two sc bands, and joined them with one last round of single crochet, thus hiding the elastic band inside. This took me a very long time, I might try some othet simpler way next time.
