I prefer this method, as I don’t have to take out hook from the chain / last stitch. Very easy:
Put the part you need to join into on top of the working yarn.
Pass the hook through where you want to join from top down.
Grab working yarn and pull the loop back up
Then pull it straight through the loop that’s currently on the hook.
Continue working as usual.
