Granita Crochet Bag

A variation on my Caramella bag pattern.

When I finished the Caramella bag, I immediately started working on another one – this time in my favourite teal/green colours. The yarn I had on hand was Golf Color by Lang Yarns, which is similar in weight to Quattro, but much more loosely spun.

I started out with double crochet stitches, but did not like the look or feel at all. So I ripped, and started again in single crochet. This worked so much better!

It did of course take more time, and yarn, but was definitely worth it.

Project notes – differences with the original Caramella pattern:

Materials and tools

1.5 skeins (cca 80 gr) of Lang Yarns Golf Color (100% cotton, 125m/50g, discontinued), 3.25mm/ US D hook

Finished size:

Base 7×18 cm, walls 12cm in height

Method

For the base I did 20 row of 40 sc.

I then starter working in the round in sc: I picked up 18 sc on each of the shorter side (so 2×18+2×40=116 sts). I did not turn my work for the 1st round after picking up the stitches, but then I joined each round with a sl st, and then turned my work, to go in the opposite direction, for a total of 34 rounds (excluding the set up).

Finished with one round of edge single crochet (the video tutorial in the original Caramella Bag pattern post). You cand find my tutorial on lining a bag here.
