Crochet, macramé and knitting classes

Since summer 2020 I propose free crochet workshops in Biot (06), France.  I would also like to propose affordable regular knitting, crochet and macrame classes for children, teens and adults. BEGINNERS’ KNITTING CLASSES

This course takes place across 5 classes or 6 classes 2 hours each. It covers the basic skills needed to follow easy to intermediate knitting patterns.

Course Outline.

Please note that this is an approximate description. I may adapt the learning plan according to students’ progress rate.

1. Cast on, knit, purl, bind off.
2. Increases, decreases. Lace.
3. Cables.
4. Colourwork – stranded and intarsia
5. Working in round. Baby sock.
6. The topic will be defined together with students during previous classes

Techniques and topics that may be covered gradually across the whole course:

• Yarns and their qualities
• Needles and knitting tools.
• Gauge. Sample.
• Simple adjustment calculations
• Reading charts and abbreviated instructions

The extent to which these areas will be covered will depend on how easily students will progress through the main part of the course and therefore, how much free time there will be.

Knitting is a very vast craft, with way too many techniques and ways to achieve the same result, and it’s the beauty of it. However, it’s impossible to cover them all in a short course. Only basics will be covered during the class. You will get homework – a selection of patterns that will allow you to practice and deepen your knowledge.  As with any skill, the more you practice, the better your results will be.

BEGINNERS’ CROCHET COURSE

Course will take place across 5 or 6 classes 2 hours each. It covers some of  the basic stitches and techniques. Each time I will use a small project as a basis for learning, so by the end of the course students will have completed five small projects.

1. Chain, slip stitch, double crochet stitch. Working in the round. Granny square. Small pouch.
2. Working forth and back. Maintaining correct edges. Double crochet stitch, chain. Coaster.
3. Estimating the size of your finished item. Half double crochet, coffee bean stitch. Mug cozy.
4. Working in spiral – amigurumi principle. Single crochet stitch. Soft ball.
5. Reading charts. Lace patterns. Working with thinner yarn. Pineapple bookmark.
6. The topic will be defined together with students during previous classes
