Here’s the recipe for stone #7 from this post. This is an extra stone that I made later, so it’s not featured in the “group photo”. This is the last post in these series.
I used fingering/4-ply wool and 2.5mm / B/C hook. The stone was 7 cm ( 2,75 in) in diameter
This “jacket” is made of two motives, second joined as-you-go to the first one.
I like my “jackets” to fit really tightly over the stones. I put my work against the stone very often to make sure it’s coming out the right size.
Side 1
Start with magic loop.
Work 7 sc in the magic loop. Then work in spiral. Change colour after completing the last sc of the round. Increase 7 times per round . Work 7 rounds in total = 49 scs.
Round 8. “Ch 9, sk 6 scs, sc in the 7th” sc around.
Fasten off. Weave in the ends.
Side 2
Side 2 is done exactly the same as side 1. Weave in the ends from magic loop and joining second colour before starting round 9.
In round 9 you will be joining both sides together.
In round 8, instead of last ch9, ch4. Make 3 y/o. Switch to contrasting colour Finish the double treble with contrasting colour and continue using it.
Round 9. To join two sides together,*ch3, sl st in ch 9 from side 1, ch 3, sc in the next ch9 of side two*. After you have joined about 2/3 of the round, slip the stone inside, and continue.
