This is not a pattern as such, more notes to myself for when I need a new pair.
Materials
I used miniskeins without labels, 60g for the pair. If I measured correctly, it’s about 19 wraps per inch. I also used 3.25 mm circular needles (magic loop), and another pair for fingers, and an extra cable to hold the thumb stitches.
Sizing and fit
The mitts fit my hands quite well, with long cuffs, as I planned. For future, I would make less increases for thumb (1 every 4 rounds, or alternating with 1 in 3). I would also probably cast on 3 sts between fingers instead of 2.
Method
Co 40 sts. Work 2×2 rib for 28 rounds
Knit 10 sts, M1 , knit to end
Knit 1 round.change colour.
Knit 1 round, k 11, M1, K1 M1, knit to end. Knit 2 rounds.
Make 9 increases in total.
Knit 10 sts, move 19 sts to an extra cable, knit, co 2 sts, knit to end. K 1 round Change colour.
Knit 10 rows and a few stitches until you are in front of the 2nd st picked up for thumb inside.
Knit 6+5+5+10 sts. Put last 10 sts on second circular. (To divide stitches for fingers: take your total number, divide by 4. Then the method says to substract 2 from the little finger and add them to the index, but I did it slightly differently. My calc is 12-10-10-10, so with cast ons each finger has 14-14-14-12. According to formula it should have been 12-10-10-8 plus two extra stitches to go to larger fingers.).
Pick up 2 sts.Knit 2 more rounds from this point. Knit 3 rounds in 1×1 rib. Bind off in pattern.
Join yarn , knit the round, until last 5 sts. Switch to the 2nd circ. K5, pick up 2 sts(slide câble) along the side of the previous finger, knit 5, cast on 2 STS. 4 rounds st st, 3 round ribbing.
Join yarn , knit the round, until last 5 sts. Switch to the 2nd circ. K5, pick up 2 sts(slide cable) along the side of the previous finger, knit 5, cast on 2 STS. 4 rounds st st, 4 round ribbing.
For thumb, knit 5 rounds, decreasing 2 sts in round 3 and 3 sts in round 5, 5 rounds of ribbing.
I used again the stretchy bind off.
