Description

Leafy Baby Set includes two coordinated knitting patterns — a lace baby blanket and a seamless lace hat, both worked in sport-weight yarn with matching leaf motifs.

The Leafy Baby Set brings together two elegant, coordinated knitting patterns — the Leafy Baby Blanket and the Leafy Baby Hat. Both feature a delicate leaf lace motif that’s timeless and gender-neutral, worked in soft sport-weight yarn for beautiful texture and drape.

The blanket is knit flat with a simple seed-stitch border, while the hat is worked seamlessly in the round, making the lace pattern easy to follow even for confident beginners. Together they make a perfect newborn gift set or keepsake project.

Patterns include full written instructions, charted lace, gauge guidance, and notes on adapting the patterns to your size/gauge.

This is a PDF pattern only, not a finished object.

DIFFICULTY

Advanced beginner to intermediate. For the blanket, lace pattern on both the right and wrong side of the work, so if you are a beginner I recommend starting with the hat. A lot of beginners have made the blanket with great success without the hat, so please to feel discouraged. I now also have several videos to illustrate the process.

MATERIALS

  • 400g Hobbii Twister Solid (55% cotton, 45% acrylic, 400m/100g = 437 yd/3.5 oz) – 4 skeins. You can use any other sports weight yarn that gives the same gauge
  • Knitting needles
    • For the hat depending on your preference, you can either use circular needles and magic loop technique, or DPNs:
      • 3mm/ US 2 ½ needles
      • 75mm/ US 2 needles.
    • For the blanket: 5 mm (US 7) circular needles recommended, at least 80 cm (32 in) cable, to accommodate large stitch count.
    • Notions: Stitch markers (optional but highly recommended), tapestry needle for finishing, blocking pins and mats.

SIZE

Newborn.

Hat finished measurements unstretched – 15 cm/6in wide by 13 cm/5 in long. Blanket finished measurements –  approximately 75x75cm / 30×30 in.
