Joining African Flower Motives as-you-go with Single Crochet

I was making Maggie the Owl pattern, and decided to join motives as I was making them, as I really don’t like sewing up. I saw a tutorial about joining African Flowers when the last round is double crochet(US). My pattern however has last round as single crochet (US). So here’s how I did that:

To start, I decided to make 2 sc’d into ch-1sp. So the 1st sc belongs to the previous side of the hexagon, and the second sc – to the next one. When I come to the corner, I do the first sc, then I draw a loop to start the second sc:

Then insert the hook top down into ch-1 space of the second hexagon that you want to join to, and grab the working yarn

Pull the yarn up through the ch-1 space of the second motive

And then through two loops on your hook – your sc/joining stitch is complete:

That means after first sc, sc 1, and join with next sc – also skipping on sc in the second motive.
