Kitty Kitty toy – Crochet Pattern

Kitty Kitty Crochet Toy

I have published my first pattern for sale – for a symbolic price of 1 euro :). I am really curious about how it will work out…

This kitty is much more easy to make than it looks like. Only single crochet is used, and it is made of one rectangle and two simple tubes. I hope it can be a great project for new crocheters. You can also finish it very quickly, literally within one evening (one of my testers did it in 3 hours), which makes it a great gift – easy, quick and fun.

There are two versions available. Full version includes photos to help with assembly explanations, and print version is optimized to save your ink.

I thank all my testers for their valuable input, and taking time to test the pattern in busy days before Christmas.

Tools & Materials

  • I used Phildar Impact yarn: 100% acrylic, 134m/50g (146 yds/1.8 oz), 1 skein of white (I used about 2/3 of a skein – about 32g/1.1 oz or 90m/100 yards), scraps of pink and blue. You can use any other DK weight yarn. You can also use other yarn weights, changing hook size accordingly. This will result in different finished measurement (or you need to adjust number of stitches and rows).
  • 3 mm / US size C or D crochet hook, or hook to get gauge
  • Darning needle
  • Your preferred stuffing
  • Stitch marker – optional

Gauge and Finished Size
Gauge is 24 sts x 30 rows in sc to yield 10x10cm/4x4in. This gauge will give you a finished toy that is 14cm/5.5 in long, 8cm/3.1in wide and 9cm/3.5in tall. The body rectangle measures 12,5x15cm/4,9×5,9in. The head has a circumference of 12,5cm/4,9in and is 6cm/2,4in tall, so when folded it’s a 6x6cm/2,4×2,4in square.

Skills needed to complete this project

  • single crochet (US terminology)
  • chain
  • slip stitch
