My son asked me for a Pikachu, so we chose this pattern. When he saw the Pokéball in the picture, he wanted one too.
I have to admit, this was quite a boring project (I guess, all amigurumi are for me). But the pay off was to watch him watch me make it. In the beginning – total disbelief that I’m making it right, that this shapeless object in my hands will turn into a ball or into Pikachu. Then – sense of magic, wonder, the moment it actually starts looking close enough to the desired object. Tight control over finishing touches, to make sure all detail look correct and are in place. And, above all, pure joy when the toy is ready to play with.
