I started the Smoulder by Kim Hargreaves in January, and finished the actual knitting pretty fast (February some time?). I enjoyed knitting it, and love the effect of using large and small diameter needles.
Apart from hating all the finishing steps – blocking, sewing, weaving in ends, I also dread putting a sweater together – I can never tell hoe it’ll fit until it’s 100% completed, with sewing and all the finishing touches. In the past most large things I knitted for me didn’t fit. As usual, my gauge was off, 10 sts x 16 rows, so I cast on for size XS (my actual size is M). So I was really dreading the final result.
I used the motivation of the Ravellenic Games to pull my act together and get it done. I love the end result, it fits and looks exactly as I wanted it to.
I think I’ll be making more sweaters from that book. I’ve got my eye on Sheer and Paloma and possible a few others. Now that this one worked out despite different gauge, I’m motivated!
