Here’s the recipe for stone #2 from this post.
I used fingering/4-ply wool and 2.25mm / B hook. The stone was 7 cm ( 2.8 in) in diameter
This “jacket” is made of two motives, second joined as-you-go to the first one.
I like my “jackets” to fit really tightly over the stones. I put my work against the stone very often to make sure it’s coming out the right size.
Side 1.
Round 1 – start using magic loop: ch3, 15 dc. Join the round with sl st.
Round 2 – ch4, *dc, ch 1* in each dc. Join the round with sl st.
Round 3 – sl st, ch3, 2 dc together in one dc of the previous row, ch 3, *sk ch1, 3dc tog in the next dc, ch 3*. Join the round with sl st.
Round 4 – sl st in ch3 sp, ch1, sc, ch5, *sc in next ch3 sp, ch5*. Join the round with sl st.
Round 5 – 2 sl st in ch5 sp, ch1, sc, ch5, *sc in next ch5 sp, ch5*. Join the round with sl st.
Round 6 – 2 sl st in ch5 sp, ch1, sc, ch3, *sc in next ch5 sp, ch3*.
Weave in ends
Second side – until rd 3. Instead of ch 3, ch 1, join, ch 1.
Side 2.
Follow instructions for side 1 until beginning of round 3. Weave in the end that’s left from starting the magic loop. In round 3 you will be joining the ch3 arches of both sides together: ch 1, sl st in ch-3 space of side 1, ch 1, instead of ch3. Here’s how I did that:
Put Side 1 with right side facing down, the curling sides up:
Ch1, insert the hook from top down into ch3-sp of side 1:
Grab working yarn
And pull it back up through ch-3 sp and the loop on the hook. ch1, sc in the next ch-5 sp of side 2.
Here’s two sides joined together for 2/3 of the round:
Now put the stone inside
And continue working
Weave in the last end
