Piggy key ring charm crochet pattern

So, two nights ago, I had a few dreams, and one of them featured some crocheted items. When I woke up, I could remember them quite vividly. So yesterday I’ve crocheted the first one, which I remembered the best. I admit, it’s not original, and there are plenty similar piggies out there, but I just had to let it out of my system. Here’s the pattern, too.

I used Grignasco Bambi (100% superwash merino, 225m/50g – fingering), 2mm/B hook, darning needle and a bit of black yarn for eyes.

For decreases, I use invisible amigurumi decrease, like this one. For back shaping I used this tutorial as a guideline

Break yarn leaving a very long tail. Thread it through back loops of all stitches, pull tight to close. Now fix it around on of the stitches of the last round, and ch30. Make a slip stitch into an opposite stitch of the last round, bind off and weave in the end.

Ears (make 2)

Row 1: ch 2, sc in the second ch from the hook, turn

Row2: ch, 2 sc in the same stitch, turn

Row 3: ch, 2 sc in each of the two sts, turn

Row 4: ch, 2 sc in the next st, sc in each of the 2 next sts, 2 sc in the last one, turn

Row 5: sl st in 2 next sts, skip next 2 sts, sl st in the last two sts. Bind off, break yarn  leaving tail long to sew ear to body. Pull tight on the end of yarn at the beginning of the ear, and cut it off, leaving a very short edge.

Nose

R1: in magic ring, sc6, join with sl st

R2: ch1, 2 sc in each of stitches, join with sl st (=12sc)

R3: ch1, sc in each stitch around, in back loop only,  join with sl st

R4: ch1 sc in each stitch around,  join with sl st. Bind off, leaving long tail to sew the nose to the body.

Tail

Position the tail below but in the same line with the place when one end of the chain loop on top of the body is connected to the back. Join yarn to the body. ch 7, sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and each ch. Sl st into the body next to the tail. Bind off and break yarn. Tie two end of yarn together for stability and weave in the ends.

Assembly

Sew the nose to the body opposite the tail. Sew ears to the body. Make 2 eyes using french knot.
